GCSE Results 2022
Posted: 25th August 2022Students who took a chance on a new school amidst the pandemic have seen their decision pay-off as they collect top GCSE grades.
BMAT STEM Academy provides a bespoke education for students in Year 10 onwards.
It means students switch from their traditional schools to BMAT STEM – which offers a unique business-focused environment and curriculum with close links with STEM employers.
The move proved so successful, many are staying on to the school’s sixth form, including –
- Ellis Dean – nine GCSEs, including four grade 8 and two grade 7
- Mateo Reynald-Abad – nine GCSEs, including top marks in science, maths and computer science
- Eloise Sharpe – nine GCSEs, including grade 9 in maths, two grade 8 and one grade 7
- Barbara Sohonyai – nine GCSEs, including top marks in science, with grade 8 in chemistry, plus two grade 7
Head of school Dustin Schuyler said: “These students made the decision to switch schools from Year 9 to 10 when the pandemic started. It can be risky figuring out if you want to switch schools in the middle of secondary school to begin with, but especially so when many things were new and uncertain at the time. We commend these students on their courage to switch schools and join us at BMAT STEM Academy at that time.
“We couldn’t be prouder of them and how they persevered through each challenge during their time with us. We are encouraged by the results and by the young professionals they have developed into.
“We are happy that many of our students will be staying on with us at BMAT STEM Academy to continue in our sixth form. We know these students will go onto achieve great things and we wish them the best of luck.”
